Hiking

There are many self-guided hikes in the area utilizing Powell Township’s Thomas Rock, the Big Bay Pathway, the Huron Mountain View Trail and the rest of NTN trail network. Our experienced guides can also design and lead you on a hike that is right for you.

TBI also offers guided, exclusive access to off trail, private land wilderness hikes and adventures.

Biking

The local, mixed use Huron Mountain View Trails are well known for providing a challenging ride for beginners and the most experienced riders alike. There are also several other trails in the area to keep the scenery fresh. Our local, experienced guides can design and lead you on a ride schedule that is right for you.

Kayaking

Big Bay has kayaking adventures for all ages and skill levels. Whether you prefer a gentle lake paddle, an exciting river paddle or an adventurous big lake paddle our guides can design and lead you on a trip that is right for you. Bring your own equipment or reserve what you need in advance.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Lake Independence is nearly 3 square miles in size and is fed primarily by the Yellow Dog River. It has a maximum depth of 30 feet with plentiful shallow shores and coves for our SUP enthusiasts. Our experienced SUP guides can provide instruction for beginners or longer guided tours pointing out natural wonders and historical landmarks for the more experienced. Bring your SUP with you or reserve a board in advance for your freshwater adventure.

More experienced and adventurous boarders can venture onto Lake Superior from Squaw Beach. Weather permitting our guides can take you along the cliffs of black rocks for spectacular views of the lake and cliffs above.

Waterfall Tours

Some of the UPs most beautiful waterfalls are right in our backyard. Our guides can design and guide you on a hike schedule that fits your preferences and ability level. Bring your bathing suit and enjoy a picnic lunch after you cool off in one of Michigan’s cool, clear waterfall pools.
