“My husband and I rented the Inn for our wedding weekend and our experience was amazing.
The first night approximately 25 of us showed up at once, all hungry. The owners and the rest of the staff went out of their way to get us all seated in the attached bar (which was already busy). The staff was incredible at getting us through dinner.
The next day I quickly needed help with some other things and again, the staff was on top of it.
The owners went out of their way to decorate our room for us before we arrived. All weekend they checked in with us to see how things were going.
Needless to say, The Thunder Bay Inn was above and beyond our expectations. We will be sure to stop by whenever we are passing through from here on out and we highly recommend anyone add this to their list of places to stay while in the UP..”

“We had a wonderful private party there this week. The historical tour was fascinating. The food was fantastic, and the whole atmosphere was magical. The owners really are dedicated to making the Inn a national landmark and yet preserving the homelike feeling there. I want to go back and make 40 loaves of Finnish rye bread when they refurbish Henry Ford’s original kitchen!”
